Handmade Furniture

Each piece will be thoughtfully constructed and finished to ensure the beauty of the wood complements the function and design.

The Work

It is this standard of craftsmanship that every piece of furniture is measured against. The use of traditional, time-tested joinery is preferred over mechanical methods, allowing the inherent strength of the wood to provide durability and a long life.

The Finish

Furniture is hand finished using a polymerized linseed oil and varnish blend. This helps to enhance the natural beauty of the wood and, at the same time, protect its surface. Several coats have been applied, using a hand-rubbed technique, building a deep, natural sheen. In order to maintain the lustrous finish for years to come, only an occasional light waxing is required.

The Guarantee

Each piece of furniture is guaranteed against defects in materials and craftsmanship for the life of the original purchaser provided the furniture is used as originally intended.

Wes Cargill, Designer & Craftsman

Wes Cargill has held a deep appreciation for design and craftsmanship since he began his career as a graphic artist in 1989. The stylings of architecture, graphic and industrial design were critical influences in developing his own approach during that time.

Wes completed certification in the ten-month Fine Furniture program at Camosun College in Victoria. The Fine Furniture program is a forty-week, full time course recognized for its comprehensive blend of practical training and classroom lectures. During his time at school, he worked at another local furniture design group, Gelinas Carr Furniture Makers.

His major design influence has always been mid-century modern – 40's, and 50's – though he finds the exposed joinery common in the Arts and Crafts movement and traditional Japanese carpentry quite intriguing. The honesty of presenting the mechanics of the design makes a statement about its function.
